Why choose this course?
The core philosophy of the Popular Music BA(Hons) is to develop musical and academic skills through the exploration of creative practice. These are learnt through composing, performing, recording, discussing, listening to and writing about a broad range of popular music, allowing you to build and develop a diverse set of employable skills. A compulsory music industry work placement is a key feature of Year 2. As 21st century musicians, students in this degree will be constantly challenged to keep abreast of a rapidly changing industry in a globalised world. This exciting degree programme also capitalises on London's vibrant multicultural music scene and we work with partners including the Science Museum and the British Library. The Department of Music houses a unique range of facilities to help support your studies including the prestigious Visconti Studio, the centre of Kingston University's research and teaching project, the Heritage and Future of Analogue Recording and Production.
